MSBL Senior Social Basketball

Social basketball for players aged 15 years and over

MSBL Senior social basketball is a great way for anyone aged over 15 to spend time with friends, keep fit and relieve stress.

Games are played at courts across Adelaide and there are male, female and mixed completions for people at all skill levels, from beginners to those who are looking to progress to higher levels.

The MSBL Senior competition offers something for everyone

Metro Social Basketball League (MSBL) competitions are run by Basketball South Australia and there are teams for all age groups and ability levels. 

MSBL Senior basketball is open to anyone over 15 years of age, and the competition is organised into seasons, including a finals series that culminates in a grand final, with winning teams being awarded trophies.

MSBL Senior key dates and details

Registrations Open: Thursday 19th March 2026

Round 1 Starts: Week of Sunday 12th April 2026 (up to 20 rounds) except for State Basketball Centre (up to 17 rounds)

Semi Finals: Commence Week of Sunday 30th August 2026 (grades will be split to ensure majority of teams play)

Grand Finals: Commence Week of Sunday 6th September 2026

State Basketball Centre finals commence 10th of August, with Grand Finals commencing 17th of August, due to the Royal Adelaide Show.

  • Players must be 15+ years of age
  • Games are refereed by accredited officials
  • Teams are required to supply one scorer
  • Teams must be in matching uniforms

More than 3 days’ notice: no fine (originally 5 days’ notice)

Forfeit fine structure:
a) Standard Forfeit Fine: 100% of Match fee
– between three (3) and one (1) days’ notice of a forfeit before fixtured game

b) Less than 24 hours’ Notice Forfeit Fine: 150% of Match fee
– less than 24 hours’ notice for a forfeit before fixtured game

c) No Show Forfeit Fine: 200% of Match fee
– when a team fails to notify or does not show for fixtured game
