Platinum League Inductees | Referee Awards Dinner

Basketball SA inducted two new referees into the Basketball SA Officials Platinum League.  

The Platinum League is recognising outstanding dedication, contribution, development and promotion as an official, an educator and ambassador in the sport of basketball throughout South Australia. 

Congratulations to Phil Haines on being inducted into the Basketball SA Officials Platinum League. 

Phil Haines

  • Officiated in the WNBL from 1998-2010, including 4 Grand Finals
  • Officiated in the NBL from 2001-2013, including 2 Final’s series
  • Officiated in the NWBL from 1998-2016, including 12 Grand Finals
  • Officiated 1996 World Wheelchair Club Championships – Spain
  • Officiated 2006 U18 European Championships Final – Hungary
  • Officiated 2006 Women’s World Club Championship Final – Russia
  • Officiated 2009 Paralympic Cup Final – Manchester
  • Officiated 2010 U17 Boys World Championships – Germany
  • Officiated 2011 U19 Men World Championships – Latvia
  • Officiated 2012 London Paralympic Games – Women’s Bronze Medal Game
  • Officiated 2014 Women’s Wheelchair World Championships –  Canada – Gold Medal Game
  • Officiated 2016 Rio Paralympic Games – Women’s Gold Medal Game
  • Officiated National Junior Championships from 1992-2000 – Gold Medal games 1995 – U16 Geelong, 1996 U18 Adelaide, 1999 – U18 Brisbane, 2000 – U20 Perth
  • Numerous Grand Final Appointments through the State League, ABA, ABL, CABL. Also officiated some National ABA/ABL Grand Finals
  • Awarded several Phil Yuill Referee of the Year awards

Bill is another inductee into the Basketball SA Officials Platinum League. A huge congratulations to Bill.
