Performance Pathways
Basketball South Australia’s Performance Pathways (PP) identifies, develops and supports athletes with the potential to progress to State, National and international-level basketball. Through development opportunities, high-level coaching and competition, athletes are supported to build the skills, knowledge and performance capabilities needed to progress through the pathway.
From emerging athletes through to nationally identified players, there are opportunities to get involved at different stages of the journey.
SA Representative Teams
Each year South Australia sends representatives from both Metro SA and Country SA to the U16s and U18s, and a combined team of Metro and Country athletes to the U20s, Ivor Burge and Junior Wheelchair Championships.
SA Metro
Ages: U16, U18
The SA Metro teams represent South Australia Metro at the Foot Locker National Championships in the U16 and U18 age groups.
Ivor Burge
Ages: Senior
Provides a pathway for athletes with an intellectual disability to represent South Australia at national level.
Junior Wheelchair
Ages: U25 Females, U23 Males
Provides a pathway for wheelchair athletes to develop and represent South Australia at national competition.
SA Country
Ages: U12 – U14
The SA Country teams represent South Australia Country at the Foot Locker National Championships in the U16 and U18 age groups.

Ages: U14 – U18
The Future Development Program develops emerging athletes for future State Performance Program selection, with opportunities to compete in interstate development tournaments.
State Performance Program
Ages: U16, U18
The State Performance Program (SPP) develops state-identified athletes to perform at national level and prepare for future selection in the National Performance Program.
National Performance Program
Ages: U12 – U14
