All people actively coaching a team in an affiliated basketball competition must complete the coach registration process prior to coaching their first game
This process involves the following:
Evidence of completion should be monitored by the club and uploaded to GameDay Central Database.
An updated Working with Children Clearance must be provided every five (5) years. All other documents need only be provided once unless otherwise requested. Responsibility for ensuring this information is accurate and up to date lies with the club/association engaging the coach.
You can contact your club/association to initiate an application on your behalf with DHS. For Coaches engaged by Basketball SA, the below JotForm can be completed to initiate the process. If you are volunteering in your role, the WWCC can be processed for free. Once processed, both you and the initiating organisation will receive a copy of the outcome.
If preferred, an individual may initiate their own application at https://screening.sa.gov.au/
Once initiated you will receive an email from DHS with instructions to complete the application.
Verification of your identity will be required. If over 18, this can be done online with an Australian Passport or birth certificate and a drivers licence.
If you do not have these documents or are under 18, you will need to print the application and have your identity verified by a permitted verifier. Once complete, the application can be emailed to DHSScreeningUnit@sa.gov.au for assessment.
