COACH REGISTRATION

All people actively coaching a team in an affiliated basketball competition must complete the coach registration process prior to coaching their first game

This process involves the following:

  • Provide a valid Working with Children Check issued by Department of Human Services (DHS), applicable to any coach 14 years of age and over
  • Completing the “Play by the Rules” online training courses in Child Protection, and Harassment and Discrimination.
  • Acknowledging the Australian Sports Commission’s Coach’s Code of Ethics and Basketball SA Code of Conduct
  • Providing a headshot photo in jpeg format, with a width to length ratio of 2:3.
  • Complete the Australian Sports Commission online Community Coach Course
  • Register as a Coach on GameDay

Evidence of completion should be monitored by the club and uploaded to GameDay Central Database.

An updated Working with Children Clearance must be provided every five (5) years. All other documents need only be provided once unless otherwise requested. Responsibility for ensuring this information is accurate and up to date lies with the club/association engaging the coach.

You can contact your club/association to initiate an application on your behalf with DHS. For Coaches engaged by Basketball SA, the below JotForm can be completed to initiate the process. Once initiated you will receive an email from DHS with instructions to complete the application.
