The Emerging Athlete Development Program (EADP) is a squad-based program, designed to develop prospective State level athletes for future selection in the State Performance Program (SPP)
SA Metro Under 14, 15, 16 and 18 Boys and Girls squads have been announced in November after High-Performance Program trials.
Teams compete in the East Coast Challenge (Sydney) and Southern Cross Challenge (Melbourne) in January 2023.
Following this tournament, squads will be selected for the State Performance Program (SPP) in 2023, from which teams will be selected for the Australian Junior Championships (AJC).

The Emerging Athlete Development Program is a squad-based program, designed to develop prospective State level athletes for future selection in the State Performance Program.
The program is overseen by Basketball SA’s State Player and Coach Performance Manager and SA Country’s High-Performance Player and Coach Development Officer. The program is delivered in both Metro and Country areas with some sessions involving both Metro and Country athletes.
The program focusses on South Australia EADP System of Play with the goal of optimising long-term athlete development.
The summarised criteria for player selection in the EADP are:
1. Be fully financial with Basketball SA and/or SA Country Basketball.
Selections may be reviewed at any time.
On court sessions are led by the Basketball South Australia’s and SA Country High-Performance coaches and appointed Development team coaches. Athletic Development sessions will be led by Basketball South Australia’s Strength and Conditioning staff.
