Social basketball is a great way to spend time with friends, keep fit and relieve stress

Basketball SA is now offering more options and age groups for people wanting to play social basketball so it caters for everyone from those wanting to have a bit of fun to the more serious players seeking strong competition

Offered across the courts of Adelaide in a variety of competitions and grades, MSBL Senior is played in the following stadiums.

Springbank Sports Centre

Important Notice: Due to the 2026 Stadium upgrade, Marion Basketball Stadium Summer Season may be shortened, however the competition will be guaranteed to have at least 13 rounds. More information will be provided to the Marion competition during the season.

Summer Season 25/26 = September 2025 to March 2026

  • Round 1 starting Sunday 21st September 2025 (up to 22 rounds)
  • Finals commence from 15th March 2026 (Grades will be split to ensure majority of teams will play)
  • Grand Finals from commence 22nd March 2026
  • Marion Basketball Stadium with only one round of finals for the Grand Final 16th December 2025 commencing, due to stadium upgrade in 2026.

Winter Season 26 = April 2026 to September 2026

  • Round 1 starting Sunday 12th April 2026 (up to 18 Rounds)
  • Finals commence from 23rd August 2026 (Grades will be split to ensure majority of teams will play)
  • Grand Finals commence from 30th of August 2026.
  • State Basketball Centre finals commence 4th of August, with Grand Finals commencing 11th of August, due to the Royal Adelaide Show.

Player Expression of Interest

Are you a player wanting to join a team? 

Please fill out an expression of interest form here.

We will do our best in getting you a team at your desired stadium. 

Rules

  • Players must be 15+ years of age
  • Games are refereed by accredited officials
  • Anyone can play; friends, classmates, family members or work colleagues
  • There are various levels and age groups
  • There are female, male or mixed competitions available
  • Competitions are played in seasons and include finals and grand finals with the winning teams receiving trophies
  • Seasons are around 3-5 months long
  • Teams are required to supply one scorer
  • Teams must be in matching uniforms


MSBL FORFEIT FINE STRUCTURE

More than 3 days’ notice: no fine (originally 5 days’ notice)

Forfeit fine structure:

a) Standard Forfeit Fine: 100% of Match fee

– between three (3) and one (1) days’ notice of a forfeit before fixtured game

b) Less than 24 hours’ Notice Forfeit Fine: 150% of Match fee

– less than 24 hours’ notice for a forfeit before fixtured game

c) No Show Forfeit Fine: 200% of Match fee

– when a team fails to notify or does not show for fixtured game
