SA UNDER 20 SPP TRIALS

South Australia Under 20 Women’s & Men’s State Performance Program (SPP) Trials 2024.

Please read all information prior to registering your athlete, this is the only trial for ALL High Performance activities for 2024.

SA Under 20 Important Information

Basketball Australia has capped the number of teams at Under 20 National Junior Championships at 10 per grade (10 men and 10 women).

SA has nominated 1 team to contest both the Under 20 Women’s and Under 20 Men’s grades at the 2024 Under 20 National Junior Championship (NC).

Basketball SA will consider nominating a 2nd development team in each grade under the following conditions:

  1. Nomination for the 2nd team is accepted by Basketball Australia. Due to numbers and nominations from other states, it is unlikely that BA would accept a 2nd SA men’s team, but more likely that BA would accept a 2nd women’s team;
  2. There are sufficient numbers of players to warrant a development team;
  3. There is a sufficient level of players for the development team to be competitive at NC level;
  4. There are sufficient people available to adequately resource a development team.

Players eligible for SA Country are especially encouraged to trial for Under 20 SPP. The Under 20 SPP will be run in a camp-based format, with trials and up to 5 weekend camps before February. There will be no camps scheduled from mid-October to early December to allow players to concentrate on school exams.

The cost of court hire for the preparation will be billed as a separate non-refundable levy. Also, upon selection in the program in mid-October, players who are selected to play in the National Under 20 Junior Championships, will be charged a fee that covers the cost of the team attending the tournament. Due to the unique circumstances surrounding selections for SA Under 20 teams a $500 deposit is required within two weeks of squad selection. If players then withdraw following later team selection, this $500 is non-refundable.

More detail can be found in Terms and Conditions upon checkout.
